Yarn made from scraps

In addition to the handspun merino wool yarn I make to order, I also love spinning some yarn that, being made with scraps, is even more unique and exclusive.

If you’ve ever done a tapestry weaving workshop with me, you know that there’s always a basket on the table to colect all the scraps and leftover yarn that are inevitably left behind. This is why.

I take the scraps, sometimes sort them by colour; other times group all the pieces I have and start carding them all together using the hand carders. Then I blend them with virgin merino wool with the drum carder.

This is a good solution to get rid of the textile waste I produce with my tapestries.

And the result couldn’t be better... Sometimes thinner, sometimes thicker, these yarns always have more character than the normal ones. With them I get to be truly creative and explore different textures.
