About me
From early on, I felt an affinity with natural fibers and textures.
Whether in marble, paper or textiles, I seek to express this connection through a practice that emerges from touch, from material and from observing Nature — my greatest source of inspiration and starting point.
numvale was born in 2022 from the need to create with my hands, using the natural resources I have around me. The materials and fibers are the essential element of each piece — they set the rhythm of the process and define the direction of the work.
I studied Sculpture at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon, and in recent years I have been developing my work across textile art, papermaking and stone sculpture, exploring materiality and the dialogue between traditional techniques and contemporary approaches.
In 2021, I founded Atelier Sem Forma, a studio dedicated to teaching manual and textile techniques, where I continue to teach. I have also taught Textile Arts at the Soares dos Reis Art School in Porto and collaborate with the International Museum of Contemporary Sculpture of Santo Tirso, leading workshops in textile art and handmade paper, while continuing to develop my own artistic practice in my studio in Porto.
