Papermaking
Paper has always been one of my favourite materials, but it was only when I discovered I could make recycled paper myself, that I started to look at it as something other than just a surface to draw or paint on.
As any handmade technique, papermaking takes time, patience and lots of practice. But unfortunately, practice never makes perfect, at least not in my experience. It obviously helps to get the pace and rhythm right, but making handmade paper is not a straight forward method. There’s many things that can ruin a newly formed sheet of recycled paper, and lots of unpredictable variables that ultimately make each sheet unique.
One of the nice things about it, is how creative it can get - I can choose the specific colour, thickness and shape of the sheet and make it for a certain project or client.
